Bespoke Commissions
What is a Bespoke Commission?
Beyond our made-to-measure service—which customizes an existing design—a Bespoke Commission begins with a concept, not a template. It is for those who desire:
-
An original garment designed from a sketch or detailed description.
-
Highly complex construction not found in our core collections.
-
The integration of unconventional materials, advanced techniques, or specialized hardware.
-
A true collaborative partnership with our master artisans and designers.
If your vision has no existing reference, this is your path.
The Bespoke Journey: A Four-Act Collaboration
Act I: The Initial Inquiry & Proposal
Your journey begins with a conversation.
-
Reach Out: Contact us at bespoke@latexatelier.com with "Bespoke Inquiry" in the subject line.
-
Share Your Vision: Provide as much detail as possible. This can include inspiration images, sketches, fabric swatches, desired silhouettes, and the intended occasion or feeling.
-
Preliminary Consultation: A senior member of our Atelier team will schedule a confidential consultation (via video call or detailed email exchange) to discuss your concept's feasibility, technical challenges, and aesthetic direction.
-
The Proposal: Following our discussion, we will provide a formal proposal outlining the creative direction, estimated timeline, and an initial project investment range.
Act II: Design Development & Commitment
This is where your idea becomes a technical reality.
-
Design Fee: To begin the exclusive design process, a non-refundable Design & Development Fee is required. This secures our artisans' time for pattern drafting, material sourcing, and creating detailed technical flats.
-
Collaborative Refinement: We will work closely with you, presenting material options, color palettes, and progressive design drafts for your feedback and approval.
-
Final Specification & Quotation: Once the design is finalized, you will receive a comprehensive specification sheet and a firm, all-inclusive quotation for the production of the garment.
Act III: Craftsmanship & Creation
With your approval and deposit, the Atelier comes to life.
-
Pre-Production: We source all approved materials and create a precise, unique pattern based on your measurements (guided by our Fit Guide) and the final design.
-
The Atelier Phase: Our master artisans cut, bond, and assemble your garment by hand. This is the most time-intensive phase, reflecting the complexity of your commission.
-
Client Updates: You will receive periodic progress updates at key milestones.
Act IV: Finalization & Revelation
The culmination of our partnership.
-
Final Fitting & Adjustments (if applicable): For local clients or specific complex pieces, a final fitting may be arranged. For remote clients, we rely on our precise measurement protocol.
-
Final Balance & Completion: Upon your final approval, the remaining balance is settled.
-
Delivery of Your Masterpiece: Your one-of-a-kind garment is meticulously prepared, finished, and shipped to you with our full care protocol, ready for its unveiling.
Investment & Timeline
-
Investment: Due to the unique nature of each project, pricing is determined on a commission-by-commission basis. The Design & Development Fee starts at $350 USD, which is credited toward the final project cost. Final commissions typically range from $1,500 to $10,000+.
-
Timeline: A typical bespoke commission requires 8 to 14 weeks from initial commitment to delivery. Highly complex projects may extend beyond this. A detailed timeline will be included in your proposal.

FAQ: Bespoke Commissions
Q: Can you recreate a garment I've seen elsewhere?
A: We create original works of couture. We do not replicate the copyrighted designs of other artists or brands. We can, however, use such references as part of a broader inspirational dialogue to create something uniquely yours.
Q: Is the Design Fee refundable?
A: No. The Design & Development Fee is non-refundable, as it compensates for the dedicated creative labor, technical drafting, and material sourcing research exclusive to your project, regardless of whether you proceed to production.
Q: How many revisions are included?
A: Our proposal will include a defined number of revision rounds within the Design Development phase. This ensures the project remains focused and efficient for both parties.
Q: Can I commission a piece as a gift for someone else?
A: Absolutely. However, the success of a bespoke garment, especially as a surprise, relies on accurate measurements and stylistic preference. We recommend a consultation to discuss the most discreet and effective approach.
We believe that true luxury is not just purchased, but co-authored.
We look forward to creating the extraordinary with you.
