The Fit Guide: Your Blueprint for the Perfect Second Skin
Welcome to the most critical step in creating your custom latex garment. Latex is not a passive fabric—it is an engineered material that moves with you. Achieving the legendary fit, where the garment feels like a second skin, is a precise art. This guide is your collaborative blueprint. Approach it with patience and care, and you will be rewarded with a fit that is secure, empowering, and exceptionally flattering.
The Foundational Principle: Measure, Don't Guess
Forget everything you know about standard clothing sizes.
Latex garments are not sized Small, Medium, or Large. They are patterned to a unique geometry derived from your specific measurements. A variance of even 2cm can significantly alter the intended fit and feel.
Your Toolkit & Preparation
You Will Need:
-
A soft, non-stretch measuring tape (cloth or fiberglass). Do not use a metal tailor's tape.
-
A notepad, pen, and our downloadable measurement form.
-
A full-length mirror.
-
(Highly Recommended) A friend to assist for the most accurate results.
How to Prepare:
-
Wear Your Undergarments: Wear the exact undergarments you plan to wear under the latex (e.g., a seamless thong, a specific strapless bra). For catsuits or full-coverage pieces, measure in minimal undergarments or nude.
-
Stand Naturally: Stand in a relaxed, natural posture. Feet together, arms at your sides. Do not suck in your stomach or puff out your chest. Breathe normally.
-
How to Hold the Tape: The tape should be snug against your body, but not tight. It should not compress the skin or dig in. It should be parallel to the floor for all horizontal measurements.
The Measurement Protocol: A Detailed Walkthrough
Take each measurement at least twice for accuracy. Record all measurements in centimeters (CM).
Section A: The Core Torso
(Essential for tops, dresses, bodysuits)
-
Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, across the shoulder blades.
-
Underbust: Measure directly under the bust, where a bra band sits.
-
Waist: Find the narrowest part of your torso. If not pronounced, measure at your natural waistline (typically where you bend side-to-side). Do not cinch.
-
Upper Hip: Measure around the body, approximately 18-20cm below your measured waist.
-
Lower Hip/Seat: Measure around the fullest part of your seat.
-
Front Torso Length: From the center shoulder point (where a bra strap sits), drape tape over the bust point down to your natural waist.
-
Back Torso Length: From the prominent bone at your neck's base (C7 vertebra), down your spine to your natural waist.
Section B: Arms & Shoulders
(For sleeves, arm access)
8. Shoulder to Shoulder: From the outer edge of one shoulder socket (where arm meets torso) to the other, across the back.
9. Bicep: Around the fullest part of your upper arm.
10. Forearm: Around the fullest part of your lower arm, near the elbow.
11. Wrist: Around the bony part of your wrist.
12. Sleeve Length: With a slight bend in your arm, measure from shoulder tip, over elbow, to wrist bone.
Section C: Legs
(For leggings, pants, bodysuits)
13. Thigh: Around the fullest part of your upper leg.
14. Calf: Around the fullest part of your lower leg.
15. Ankle: Around the narrowest part, above the ankle bone.
16. Inside Leg (Inseam): From the highest point of your inner thigh (crotch) straight down to the floor.
17. Outside Leg (Side Seam): From your natural waist, down your side, over the hip, to the floor.
Section D: Key Specialized Measurements
For Full-Body Garments (Catsuits, Bodysuits):
18. Crotch Depth (Front): Sit on a flat, hard chair. Measure from your front waist down to the chair's surface.
19. Crotch Depth (Back): From your back waist down to the chair's surface.
20. Front Rise (Neck to Crotch): From the hollow of your neck, down through your torso's center, to the point between legs.
21. Back Rise (Neck to Crotch): From the C7 neck bone, down your spine, through the seat's center, to the point between legs.
For Necklines & Hoods:
22. Head Circumference: Around the widest part of your head, above ears and eyebrows.
23. Neck Circumference: Around the base of your neck where a choker would sit.

The Art of the Notes: Communicating with Your Pattern Maker
Your measurements tell a story in numbers. Your notes provide the crucial context. In the "Notes" section of your order, tell us about your body. This is confidential and vital for perfection.
Examples of Helpful Notes:
-
"I have prominent shoulder blades."
-
"My right thigh is slightly larger than my left."
-
"I have a long torso and shorter legs."
-
"I prefer a slightly snugger fit through the waist."
-
"I have a sway back."
The Fit Guide Philosophy: Trust & Precision
-
We Are Your Partner: Our master pattern makers interpret your blueprint. If we see a potential discrepancy, we will contact you. This is part of our quality commitment.
-
Anatomy is Asymmetrical: It's normal to have slight variations from one side to the other. Please measure the dominant or larger side and note it.
-
The Goal is "Held," Not "Bound": A perfect latex fit feels secure and supportive, not restrictive. It moves when you move and rests when you rest.
You've Measured. What's Next?
-
Double-Check Every Number. Accuracy is everything.
-
Submit with Confidence. Enter your measurements into the designated fields on your custom product page.
-
Trust the Process. Your unique geometry is now being translated into a three-dimensional form.
This meticulous process is what separates a garment that you wear from a garment that becomes you. It is the foundation of the Latex Atelier experience.
